Because apple cider season is even better with tequila.

Pumpkin spice gets all the attention, but we’re giving apples their moment in the cocktail spotlight.

Meet the Apple Spice Margarita, a cozy combination of crisp apple cider, smooth reposado tequila, fresh lime, warm cinnamon, and a hint of maple sweetness. It’s everything we love about fall, shaken over ice and served with a cinnamon-sugar rim.

The result? A refreshing margarita with just enough autumn spice to make you want to put on a sweater, light a candle, and invite your favorite people over for Taco Tuesday.

And yes, tequila absolutely belongs in apple cider.

Apple Spice Margarita Recipe

Serves 1
Easy

Ingredients

  • 2 oz reposado tequila
  • 2 oz fresh apple cider (unfiltered preferred)
  • ¾ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ½ oz orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
  • ¼ oz pure maple syrup
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • Ice

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Rim

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Lime wedge for rimming

Garnish

  • Thin apple slice or lime wheel
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Fresh sage leaf (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass. Mix the cinnamon and sugar on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  2. Shake things up. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, apple cider, lime juice, orange liqueur, maple syrup, and a pinch of cinnamon.
  3. Add ice. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Pour and garnish. Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice and strain the margarita over it.
  5. Make it beautiful. Garnish with an apple slice or lime wheel, a cinnamon stick, and a fresh sage leaf for an elegant seasonal finish.

The Secret Is Reposado Tequila

While blanco tequila works beautifully in a classic margarita, reposado brings something special to this autumn-inspired cocktail. Its subtle notes of oak, vanilla, and caramel complement the natural sweetness of apples and the warmth of cinnamon.

For an extra cozy twist, add a tiny pinch of nutmeg or replace the maple syrup with cinnamon-infused simple syrup.

Taco Tuesday Pairing

This margarita loves bold, savory flavors. Pair it with crispy carnitas tacos, smoky chipotle chicken, or roasted sweet potato tacos with a little heat. The sweetness of the apple cider balances spicy flavors beautifully.

The final sip: Fall is officially in session. And apparently, it brought tequila.
