Every now and then you must sip on something glorious. When you NEED, not want a fresh splash of color, a floral twist, and a lot of personality on your table, it’s time to look past the everyday classics.

Life is entirely too short not to explore new flavors.
We pretty obsessed with The Sunshine Margarita. It feels like a tiny vacation. Why is a drink called “Sunshine” a deep, stunning crimson? Because it gets its brilliant hue from real hibiscus (agua de jamaica). It’s crisp, beautifully balanced, and offers a tart, sophisticated flavor profile that elevates your entire Tuesday experience.

Here is how to bring this gorgeous cocktail to life.

The Recipe: The ‘Sunshine’ Hibiscus Margarita

Prep time: 10 minutes (including the quick tea steep)
Yield: 1 beautiful, photo-ready cocktail

The Ingredients

  • 2 oz Premium Tequila Blanco or Reposado
  • 1.5 oz Strong-brewed Hibiscus Tea (cooled)
  • 1 oz Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 0.75 oz Agave nectar
  • 0.5 oz Cointreau
  • The Crown: A fresh hibiscus flower and a wheel of lime

How to Craft It:

  1. Brew the Base: Steep 2 tablespoons of dried hibiscus flowers (jamaica) in a half cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Strain it and let it cool. (Pro tip: Batch this ahead of time and keep it chilled in the fridge!).
  2. Prep Your Glass: Fill a classic margarita goblet or your favorite glass to the brim with crushed ice.
  3. Shake with Energy: In a cocktail shaker, combine your tequila, cooled hibiscus tea, fresh lime juice, agave, and orange liqueur. Add ice cubes and shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the shaker is frost-bitten cold.
  4. The Pour: Strain the beautiful, deep magenta liquid over your mountain of crushed ice.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Place a gorgeous fresh red hibiscus flower and a crisp lime wheel on the rim.
