Don Alberto started his business in his backyard. On Sunday afternoons, he would cook a variety of traditional Mexican food and would sell to family and friends. Customers came in regularly for a taste of Albertillo’s “cena.”
During the week, Don Alberto would stock up a shopping cart with homemade tamales, gorditas, and chorizo and would head out to nearby neighborhoods where people waited for his food, his stories, and contagious laughter.
In 1992, he opened his first restaurant, which rapidly became very popular throughout Santa Ana, CA. His cheerfulness and unique personality made his customers feel at home. Most of his best customers have traveled quite a distance from surrounding cities to visit him and enjoy his recipes.
