In Marquelia, a beautiful corner of the Costa Chica in Guerrero, Mely Díaz was born, a cook who inherited the culinary art of three generations. Her father revealed to her the secrets of an exceptional birria, while her mother instructed her in the elaboration of the traditional mole, filling her childhood with fragrances and memories. After a long career in the restaurant industry, Mely ventured to start a business in California, and at La Costeñita de Guerrero restaurant she shares the flavors of her homeland.
Mely merged her family legacy with her passion for cooking, establishing a business that transcends borders and generations. Each dish that is served, from the birria to the mole, passing through the pozole, the menudo and dozens of other dishes, carried with it the essence of Marquelia and its culture. His creations became a tribute to tradition, keeping the culinary heritage alive while sharing the authentic flavors of Guerrero’s Costa Chica with the world.
