No Halloween bar menu is complete without a potion straight out of a fairytale cauldron. While crimson cocktails channel vampire lore, there’s something mesmerizing about an electric, foggy emerald brew wrapped in swirling smoke.

The latest chapter in our Fall Tequila Cocktail Series is here: The Green Poisoned Apple Tequila Cocktail.

Inspired by storybook villains and moody autumn orchards, this showstopping cocktail balances tart green apple, earthy herbs, and crisp tequila under a spiced, smoky rim. Fresh Granny Smith apple juice and lime provide a lip-puckering bite, while a whisper of herbal green melon or apple liqueur lends that glowing neon-green hue. Served in a vintage crystal goblet, crowned with an apple slice, and rimmed with cinnamon-chili sugar, it’s a spellbinding sip that will enchant your entire Taco Tuesday crew.

The Green Poisoned Apple Tequila Cocktail

Prep time: 5 minutes
Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila (or crisp Reposado)
  • 1½ oz Tart Green Apple Juice (fresh-pressed Granny Smith or unsweetened cider)
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Sour Apple Liqueur or Midori (for that wicked neon glow and balanced sweet-tart orchard punch)
  • ½ oz Rich Agave Nectar (or rosemary-infused simple syrup)
  • Ice (for shaking and serving)

For the Spiced “Poison” Rim:

  • 1 tbsp Raw cane sugar (or brown sugar)
  • ½ tsp Ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of smoked chili powder or cayenne
  • Lime wedge (for wetting the rim)

For Garnish & Dramatic Presentation:

  • 1 thick horizontal green apple wheel (with stem intact if possible)
  • Fresh mint leaves or basil sprig
  • Elegant stemmed crystal goblet or coupe
  • Optional smoky effect: A cocktail smoking gun, applewood smoke cloche, or a food-safe dry ice chip

Instructions

  • Rim the Glass: In a shallow dish, blend the raw sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of smoked chili powder. Run a lime wedge around the lip of your stemmed goblet and dip gently to create an even, spiced border.
  • Shake the Potion: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, green apple juice, fresh lime juice, green apple liqueur, and agave nectar. Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until ice-cold.
  • Pour: Fill the prepared goblet with crushed or cracked ice, and double strain the bright green mixture into the glass.
  • Garnish: Tuck a fresh sprig of mint next to the rim, and crown the cocktail with a whole green apple wheel perched boldly on top.
  • Add the Magic (Optional): If using a smoking cloche or smoking gun, trap applewood smoke around the glass just before serving to let the aromas swirl dramatically over the table.

Taco Pairing Tip:
The crisp, tart acidity of Granny Smith apple and lime acts as the ultimate palate cleanser against savory, fat-rich fillings. Pair this with crispy Pork Carnitas, Braised Duck Tacos, or melted Quesabirria, where the cinnamon-apple brightness cuts through rich, cheesy perfection.
