Pickle lovers, assemble. If you thought dirty sodas and dirty margaritas were taking over taco night, wait until you get a sip of The Pickle Margarita.
Served up in an elegant coupe with crisp pickle coins and a sprig of fresh dill, this cocktail is as sophisticated as it is unapologetically tangy. The salt and vinegary kick of classic dill pickle brine acts as the ultimate amplifier for crisp blanco tequila and bright lime juice. It’s savory, wildly refreshing, and pairs like absolute magic with everything from spicy carnitas to crunchy fish tacos.
If you’re a fan of picklebacks, spicy micheladas, or extra-briny martinis, this drink is guaranteed to steal the spotlight on your next Taco Tuesday.
The Pickle Margarita
Yield: 1 Cocktail
Prep Time: 3 Minutes
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco Tequila (100% Blue Agave)
- 1 oz Dill Pickle Juice (straight from your favorite jar)
- ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice
- ½ oz Orange Liqueur (such as Triple Sec or Cointreau)
- ½ oz Agave Nectar (adjust based on preferred sweetness)
- Garnish: 2 dill pickle chips, a lime wheel, and a sprig of fresh dill
Instructions
- Chill Your Glass: Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to get it ice-cold before serving. (Optional: Rim half the glass with Tajín or sea salt if you like extra spice!)
- Shake It Up: In a cocktail shaker packed with ice, combine the blanco tequila, dill pickle juice, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave nectar.
- Get Briny: Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is completely frosted over.
- Strain & Garnish: Double strain the cocktail into your chilled coupe glass. Garnish the rim with a lime wheel notched next to two dill pickle coins, and float a fresh dill sprig on top for that lush, herbal finish.
Want to crank up the heat? Muddle a slice of fresh jalapeño in the shaker before adding your liquid ingredients, or use spicy garlic pickle brine for an extra punchy flavor profile.
