California takes the top spot, Texas comes in hot at No. 2, and the West proves it really knows what to do with a Tuesday.
There are Tuesdays. And then there are Taco Tuesdays.
Across the country, millions of people have turned an otherwise ordinary weeknight into an excuse to meet friends, order another round, discover a new taco spot and collectively agree that Tuesday deserves considerably more attention than it gets.
But some states are taking the tradition more seriously than others. Based on TacoTuesday.com’s latest state-by-state data, these are the 20 states showing the strongest Taco Tuesday popularity, and one thing becomes obvious very quickly:
California takes the Taco Tuesday crown.
From neighborhood taquerias and taco trucks to chef-driven restaurants and margarita-fueled patios, Taco Tuesday feels less like a promotion here and more like part of the weekly rhythm of life.
Basically, California looked at Tuesday and said, we can work with this.
Coming in at No. 2 is Texas which should surprise absolutely no one.
Tacos are serious business here, and Tuesday gives Texans one more reason to debate fillings, tortillas, salsa and where everyone is meeting after work.
The only real question is: How many tacos counts as dinner?
Texas would probably argue there is no upper limit.
Nevada lands at No. 3, proving that Tuesday can absolutely have weekend energy.
Whether it’s a casual neighborhood spot or a full night out, Nevada clearly understands an important truth:
You do not have to wait until Friday to have fun.
Colorado takes fourth place, making Taco Tuesday practically part of the weekly schedule.
Mountains. Margaritas. Tacos.
No notes.
Arizona rounds out the Top 5, where tacos and cold margaritas feel especially appropriate under all that sunshine.
Tuesday plans? Handled.
New Mexico comes in at No. 6 and gives the Southwest another major showing near the top of the list.
At this point, the western states may need to form a Taco Tuesday conference.
And then Ohio enters the chat.
Landing at No. 7, Ohio is the highest-ranking Midwestern state on the list and proof that Taco Tuesday enthusiasm is hardly confined to the Southwest.
Tuesday apparently travels well.
Florida takes eighth place, because sunshine, tacos and margaritas were always going to find each other eventually.
Georgia comes in at No. 9, putting another Southern state firmly into Taco Tuesday territory.
Oregon completes the Top 10 and adds another western state to an already impressive showing.
Seven of the Top 10 states are located in the West or Southwest, which means Tuesday may have found its natural habitat.

What may be most interesting about the ranking isn’t simply who landed at No. 1. It’s how geographically diverse the Top 20 has become. The list stretches from California to New York, Minnesota to Florida and Hawaii to Pennsylvania, suggesting Taco Tuesday has moved far beyond any one region or style of restaurant.
The Southwest may dominate the top of the ranking, but Tuesday has clearly become a nationwide dining ritual. And perhaps that makes sense. Taco Tuesday requires remarkably little from us.
Find people you like.
Find tacos you want.
Possibly order a margarita.
